Exploring the impact of digital wellbeing on productivity in employees
Focus:
Measuring how digital wellbeing boosts employee productivity and workplace performance.
Overview
As conversations around workplace wellbeing continue to evolve, many organisations are investing in digital tools designed to support employee mental health, focus, and performance. Yet despite growing interest and adoption, a key challenge remains: whats the impact of digital wellbeing, or poor digital wellbeing, on employee productivity and organisational efficiency?
This academic collaboration between Social Media Resilience and a postgraduate researcher from the University of Birmingham set out to explore that question. The project investigated how wellbeing and productivity outcomes could be measured before and after a structured digital intervention, and how those insights could inform a broader understanding of organisational efficiency.
Drawing on both academic theory and workplace engagement, the research aimed to identify reliable, human-centred metrics that demonstrate whether and how digital wellbeing tools make a measurable difference. By combining primary and secondary research, the project also contributed to the development of a replicable framework that other organisations can use to evaluate impact with greater clarity and confidence.
